APM Terminals acquire 50% shareholding in Teconvi, Itajaí The Hague, Netherlands 31st May 2005 APM Terminals is pleased to announce it has acquired a 50% shareholding in Terminal de Contêineres do Vale do Itajaí S/A (Teconvi) in Itajai, Southern Brazil. Our partner in the terminal is Cattalini Terminais Marítimos Ltda. Teconvi operates at both the concession area and the public berths in Itajaí. Total available berth length is currently 740 meters. Containers are handled by two mobile harbor cranes and by ships own gear. A third mobile crane will be delivered in August 2005. Teconvi plans with substantial expansion to cater for the continued high growth of the export market in Santa Catarina. The plans include construction of a new berth suitable for gantry cranes, reinforcement of the existing quay and expansion of the yard area. The developments will bring Teconvis annual handling capacity in excess of 1 million TEU.
